Premium Wooden jigsaw puzzle, in a plum drawstring cloth bag*, placed into a plum and grey Wentworth branded box.
Available in 4 sizes. In 1870 at the age of 19 Kroyer completed his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art, where he studied with Frederik Vermehren. From 1891-1894, Peder and his wife rented a cottage in Skaren, where he painted Roses. The flourishing garden is emphasised by the flowering, white rosebush in the foreground. This rosebush is a historic variety called Alba Maxima, which can also be found in the garden of Skagens Museum today.
Kroyer's paintings are similar to those of the French Impressionist, Claude Monet. Roses is one of Kroyer's masterpieces and the use of motif and light makes this painting a pertinent example of how Danish artists at the end of the 19th century were heavily influenced by the French Impressionists.
*40 piece puzzles do not include a drawstring bag.
